Deleting your Woof account

You can delete your account and its contents at any time. You do not need to ask permission and you do not have to give a reason.

From inside the app

Open Woof and go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. Woof will ask you to confirm, then delete your account and its contents.

By email, if you can’t use the app

If you’ve uninstalled Woof, lost the phone, or can’t sign in, write to info@woofhelp.com from the email address you can be reached at, and tell us the phone number your Woof account uses. We will verify that the request is really from you before deleting anything — a deletion request that anybody could make about anybody else would be a security hole rather than a privacy feature.

Deleting your Woof account does not cancel a Woof+ subscription. Only Apple can cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it in your Apple account settings, on the same Apple ID you used to subscribe, before or after deleting your Woof account.

What is deleted

  • Your account, name and phone number
  • Your pets and their complete records: vaccinations, medications, documents, notes
  • Your home location and any address you entered
  • Your Safety Network entries and your protection settings
  • Your check-in history and your own protection timers
  • Your sessions and registered devices

What is retained, and why

A small amount of information survives deletion. Each case is because erasing it would damage somebody else’s record or break an obligation Woof has.

  • Incidents. An incident records who Woof contacted and what they answered. Other people appear in it, and it is the account of a real event.
  • The audit log. It records that something happened, against opaque identifiers rather than your details.
  • Subscription and referral records. Retained for accounting, tax and fraud purposes.

Product analytics are deleted automatically on their own schedule and are never linked to your name, your location or anything inside a pet’s record.

Getting a copy first

If you want your information before it goes, use Settings → Privacy → Export My Data. Woof prepares a file and tells you when it’s ready; the file expires after seven days.

State privacy rights

If you live in a state with its own privacy law — California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Oregon or Texas among others — you may have additional rights, including the right to know what is held about you and to have it corrected or deleted. Write to info@woofhelp.com and say which right you want to exercise. Woof does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
