Woof Community Guidelines
Woof Chat exists so pet owners can help each other. These guidelines say what that means in practice. They apply to everyone in every community, including Woof's own official accounts.
1. Be the person you'd want in your community
Talk to people the way you'd talk to a neighbor whose dog you like. Disagree with ideas, not with people. No harassment, no insults, no pile-ons, no hate. Communities are for the subject on the tin: keep the Pugs community about pugs.
2. Health talk is not veterinary care
Sharing experience is welcome. "Our vet suggested X for the same thing" has helped a lot of animals. But nobody in a community, however confident, is examining your pet.
- If an animal may be in danger, contact a veterinarian or an emergency vet clinic now. Do not wait for replies.
- Don't present yourself as a veterinary professional unless you are one, and even then, community replies are conversation, not treatment.
- Woof may add reminders of this in health communities. They're not decoration.
3. Protect your own privacy, and everyone else's
- Never post your home address, or anyone else's, or anything that says when a home is empty. Woof Chat is deliberately built so your location, your home/away state and your protection setup can't appear there, so don't undo that with a post.
- You appear as the handle you chose. Don't reveal another member's identity, and don't post other people's personal information, photographs of people without their agreement, or anyone's contact details.
4. No spam, no scams, no impersonation
- No commercial spam, referral-code flooding, engagement bait or repeated reposting.
- No fundraising or marketplace posts unless a community's description explicitly allows them.
- Don't impersonate other members, Woof, or Woof staff. Official Woof accounts are visibly badged; nothing without the badge speaks for Woof.
- Automated posting is not allowed. Woof's own AI identity posts only with its Official · AI label and human review.
5. Nothing illegal, nothing cruel
Content that depicts, encourages or organizes animal cruelty or neglect, violence toward people, or anything illegal has no home here and is removed. Where the law requires it, Woof cooperates with lawful requests from authorities.
6. The tools, and what they do
- Report asks Woof to look. It's quiet: the reported person isn't told, and the reporter is never named to them.
- Block is symmetric: the blocked person's posts disappear for you, and yours for them.
- Moderators can hide or remove content that breaks these guidelines, and can suspend or ban accounts for serious or repeated violations. Woof aims to act on the content first and escalate to accounts only when a pattern shows.
A removal or suspension you believe was wrong can be raised at info@woofhelp.com, where a person reads every message.
7. Changes
Woof may update these guidelines as the community grows. The version at woofhelp.com/community-guidelines is the one in force.
